Nanda Banerjee
Nanda Banerjee is a most gifted and versatile vocalist, well known to western audiences in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Calgary for her commanding, creative, and inspirational style. Nanda Banerjee has performed to outstanding musical acclaim with some of India's greatest musicians at the prestigious Dover Lane Music Conference in Calcutta. She has been accompanied by many internationally famous artists, including the noted tabla player Zakir Hussain and Pandit V. G. Jog, India's foremost violinist.
Mrs. banerjee received her Sangeet Bisharad music degree at age 16 and later was a disciple of the distinguished Professor A.T. Kanan and Malavika Kanan at the Sangeet Research Academy in Calcutta. Nanda has evolved a unique and melodious presentation for intricate ragas (classical compositions) in the Khayal style, bhajans (devotional songs), and thumris (light classical songs) which never fails to enthrall every audience.
Nanda Banerjee teaches a dedicated group of Indian American students in Houston. She and her group are well known for supporting and playing hosts to most of the major Indian musicians who pass through or perform in Houston.
